Amber and Scott – May 27th, 2012

One of our most memorable couples, Amber and Scott chose the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Pittsfield MA. as the site for both their ceremony and reception

Combined with both style and fun. Amber and Scott celebrated their day by incorporating some special moments along with some traditional Jewish customs to reflect their personalities.

To ensure that all members of their wedding party were known to their family and friends, I used personalized introductions to highlights each member of the wedding party to their relationship to Amber and Scott

As the reception kicked our couple set the tone of the entire evening with their first dance of “Lucky” by Jason Mraz

Other special moments included were parents dances, the traditional garter and bouquet toss, and the Hora Dance.

April & Joe: Sept. 24th, 2011

A Berkshire DJ wedding showcase

Simple weddings can still be fun and memorable.

April and Joe were married in Pittsfield, MA. at the famous Mazzeo’s restaurant, known in the Berkshire area as being one of the top catering halls

The couple wanted a very simple wedding, and invited me to be their DJ for the evening with a very simple entertainment structure.

Other than a first dance for April and Joe, there were no other special moments planned for the evening. This allowed the guests to enjoy a more laid backed and less structured atmosphere where everyone could just let loose and dance the night away.

This wedding is an example that you can still have a successful wedding without all the formalities.

If you plan to have a successful wedding, it is important to remember that your DJ has not only the knowledge of appropriate music, but coordination skills, proper speaking technique, and above all, TALENT.

What is talent when it comes to being a DJ? Let’s start with what it is not……

Talent is NOT a vast music library
Talent is NOT a multitude of pretty lights
Talent is not sceaming into the microphone or impersonating a ring announcer to introduce you wedding party.

What is Talent?

Talent is the ability to desgin a wedding entertainment experience that will be remembered as solely yours
Talent is taking background information of your family, friends, and wedding party members so your event is memorable
Talent is getting to know the two of you and incorporating your personalities into special moments.

What kind of DJ do you want in charge of your only wedding day?

Stefan and Daniel wanted an LGBT wedding reception and chose the Hotel Northampton in Northampton, MA to celebrate their special day.

This event was actually my first LGBT wedding, and was really excited to finally be a part of this new shift in cultural acceptance, where everyone is seen as equal in regards to making a decision on who they could marry, whether that person is male or female.

Coming from a Jewish background, I actually opened the reception with their entrance into the ballroom, their first dance, and then asked everyone to join Stefan’ and Daniel in a Hora Dance as a celebratory opener to their special day

Among having several toastmasters throughout the dinner portion of the reception, the wedding couple and their guests danced throughout the night to many selections from the 70’s – today, and sang along with renditions of Neil Diamond’s” Sweet Caroline”, and Billy Joel’s “Piano Man”

As a special moment, Daniel was staged just outside the ballroom and on cue, entered the ballroom with microphone in hand, entertaining the guests to a lip sync version of Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now.”

Stefan and Daniel’s wedding will always be treasured as both my first LGBT event and a celebration of two  very special people.

Katie and Jason had their fall wedding at the Williams Inn located in the Berkshire town of Williamstown, MA. These two very special people wanted a Berkshire DJ that would create an atmosphere and energy level that would match the type of event they were looking for.

To signify the guest tables, song titles were substituted for traditional numbers. These songs were used as a prelude to build up the energy during dinner. When a song from a specific table was played, the guests were invited to the dance floor for their own table spotlight dance.

Ambiance was created by adding dance floor lighting and a monogram light that illuminated the floor with the Bride and Groom’s initials.

There were no limitations on music as friends and family of the Bride and Groom danced all night to a variety of different genres from the 1960s through today. This was a high energy, no frills wedding which lasted well into the late hours of the evening

Julie and Dan chose a fall Berkshire wedding and wanted to be sure that
their choice of entertainment would capture the their event.

Their reception was at the beautiful Crissey Farm in the southern Berkshire town of Great Barrington, MA. A place that I have highly recommended on many occasions due to their attention to details, friendly staff, and excellent cuisine.

Julie and Dan were all about wanting their guests to have fun, so they decided to limit their special moments to accommodate more time for dancing, even asking all of their guests to join them during their first dance

Special moments included Julie and Dan’s first dance of “Everything” by Michael Buble, A dance for Dan and his mother to the
song “find Your wings” by Mark Harris, and a very special dedication dance for Julie and her son, Jack to “I Just Call You Mine from” Martina McBride.

Guests danced through the whole evening to a selection of songs from the 60′s through today, including some of my signature sing-a-long renditions of “Sweet Caroline” and Livin On A Prayer, leading up to the final dance of Garth Brooks – “Friends In Low Places” and a finale of “Freebird”
by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

A special thanks to Alanna Scully for providing the photography for the evening and the pictures for this post

Megan and Derek were married on June 18, 2011 and chose the Hampdem Country Club for their wedding reception.

This couple was an absolute delight to work with. From the planning process, to the day of the event, there was never a moment where these two were not smiling, laughing, or just loving every moment of their lives.

Being a professional singer, Megan wanted to honor her mother with a special song. Instead of a special dance, I opted to have Megan’s mother join me on the dance floor and started “Wind Beneath My Wings”. Megan acended the ballroom staircase with microphone in hand, joining her mother on the floor for a serenade

To me they represent the perfect wedding couple and a reminder as to why I enjoy performing weddings.
